“Sing a Song of Sixpence” is a little piece of our new children’s musical, The Big Red Shoe, and is available now for your grade school choir to perform as a lively concert addition or as a musical mini-drama.
The $14 package comes with a 5-page piano score, a page of performance tips, and a vocal score that you may copy for your choir members.
Musical Details: “Sing a Song of Sixpence” is the well-known Mother Goose rhyme set to piano and children’s choir by Charles Wilson and Karen Shell. The piano part is of medium difficulty, written in the keys of F and D minor. The voice range is from Middle C to the D an octave above, mostly in unison but breaking into easy harmony at the end of each chorus. It also contains an optional 4-part canon of the cawing blackbirds that your singers will want to add to their lexicon of rounds like “Row Your Boat” and “Frère Jacques”.
Performance Tips on the back cover include ideas and options for part-singing, choreography, props, and non-singing extras to perform brief pantomimes.
With a performance time of about two and a half minutes, “Sing a Song of Sixpence” is a quick and inexpensive way to introduce young children to musical theater.
